Should fuel hit £2.50 a litre then that would drive the economy into the ground, haulage companies, small businesses and such like that are a vital part of our economy would fold only to send us back into recession.
As for MPG don't ever coast in neutral, when the car is in neutral the engine is ticking over therefore using your precious fuel, if you instead left the car in 5th gear with no accelerator then this shuts off the fuel to the engine and it is only the wheels that keep the engine turning over, this method will save you fuel (obviously) you won't roll as far but you will save fuel which is ultimately what you are aiming to do.

No, but good for the environment, as renewable sources would be developed much more quickly.

hi fellow old diesel polo owner,

Have you considered folding in your wing mirrors - maybe getting small sticky mirrors for the ends (for use when folded).

- every little helps !

Do you honestly believe that £2.50 per litre would be good for the economy? That fact that those who rely on their cars (people who don't work in city centres or live in rural areas not supported by a reliable public transport network) would be hardest hit.
