Regional Party in Swansea
SI Wales South's annual post-conference party to welcome the new Regional President was held at the Hilton National hotel in Swansea. Anyone who had hoped to sneak in at the last minute would have been sadly disappointed! 100 Soroptimists from clubs across the region including a few dedicated Soroptimisters packed the dining room to capacity and gave an enthusiastic welcome to Regional President Marilyn Lawrie.

Toes tapped and Soroptimists clapped enthusiastically to the music and songs of the David Chalfort Trio.

But the greatest ovation went to self-styled cleric-for-the-evening, velvet-collared Carwen Wynne-Howells whose Improved Version of the Book of Genesis had her congregation rolling with laughter in their pews. Her solemn reading of a string of past presidents, and "who begat who" followed by witty commentary on the current Executive was everything we now expect of 'Carwen's Poems'.

Erene Grieve, president-elect Milford Haven (and enthusiastic philatelist) stamped her mark on the evening with her vote of thanks and amusing excuses as to why she has never yet learned the words of the Welsh National Anthem. Remember to take your spectacles next time Erene!
President Marilyn cuts the first slice
Regional President Marilyn comments "This light-hearted and enjoyable evening strongly showed the friendship side of our Soroptimism. We now have to get down to some hard work in looking at the ways in which the new Constitution will affect our region and discuss our development work at the meeting in Swansea on Saturday 28th November."
Regional Treasurer Evelyn White
